I use the following effective methodologies:

Dreamwork
– Dreams are often a metaphor, describing an
experience that we are not entirely aware that we are currently
having and containing the potential for incredible depth
transformation. Elbert combines his extensive training in Jungian
Psychology, Sand Play Therapy and Gestalt psychotherapy to utilize
your dreams as a way of psychological exploration and resolution.
Your dreams will guide you towards a deeper understanding of
yourself along your path of continued personal growth.

EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an
extremely effective method of trauma resolution that results in rapid
emotional healing and increased psychological freedom from
painful emotions and debilitating beliefs about oneself. EMDR
accesses the amygdala in a similar way to REM sleep and allows
emotions to be reprocessed to completion.  Elbert has used EMDR
since 2004 to help hundreds of individuals to resolve painful issues
and develop positive resources in their lives.  EMDR can help you
remove unwanted beliefs and empower you towards higher
functioning.
I specialize in resolving the following areas:

Mood issues
– “Why do I keep feeling this way?!”  Anxiety and
depression can inhibit one from living their life to the fullest.  Elbert
has years of experience and training to help people get their life
back and acquire their personal goals.  Change is possible and
will happen for you.

Addictions – No one wants to be a slave to a substance; you can
recover fully and live free, empowered with new choices and
possibilities.  Elbert has extensive experience assessing and
working with substance abuse and dependency issues and the co-
occurring conditions that often accompany addictions.
Trauma – While we all have experiences that are to some degree
painful, traumatic experiences are those experiences that continue
to cause emotional difficulties for us because they are too difficult
and/or painful to integrate fully.  Elbert provides a spectrum of
approaches to work with, resolve and integrate trauma in order to
transform dysfunction into empowerment.  Trauma can be resolved
and unspeakable experiences can become integrated into more
comfortable parts of our life history.

Legally mandated treatment needs – Elbert is an ADAD
approved treatment provider for court-ordered treatment for
adolescents and adults.  My goal is to help you learn how to get out,
and stay out, of the legal system.  Whether this is your first encounter
with the legal system, or ongoing, I have extensive experience in
being able to help people learn the skills and make the changes
necessary to complete probation/parole successfully.
Gestalt – Developed by Fritz Perls, Gestalt Psychotherapy combines awareness, contact and boundaries within intra-
psychic and inter-personal relationships in order to move past “being stuck” and towards finishing “un-finished”
business.  Gestalt has tremendous power because it brings everything into the immediate ‘here and now,’ where change
happens spontaneously, accompanied with increased awareness, understanding, and empowerment.  Elbert has
utilized Gestalt psychotherapy to engage others in moving through debilitating and enduring impasses, allowing for
profound positive change in their lives.  Gestalt psychotherapy will aid you in making positive growth through discovering
and integrating lost parts of yourself.

Relationship Therapy – IMAGO Psychotherapy is a combination of communication methods and skill building that can
rapidly transform your relationship from “wounding” to highly supportive and growth orientated. Elbert has been trained in
IMAGO therapy and has helped many couples improve their relationship towards greater fulfillment and passion.  You
can get the love you want by resolving issues that inhibit growth and learning how to get your needs met in your
relationship.

Meditation Instruction – Meditation is a path of developing awareness, insight and compassion for ourselves and
others.  Elbert studied Yogic Meditation practices through the Kriya Yoga School for several years before attending
Naropa University.  Elbert acquired both his B.A. in Contemplative Psychology and his M.A. in Transpersonal
Counseling Psychology during which time he studied Shamatha -Vipashyana Meditation through five-years of face to
face instruction with a personal meditation instructor. This extensive study of meditation provides Elbert a spectrum of
types of meditation instruction to meet the needs of you and your practice.  If you have a meditation practice and want to
integrate psychotherapy into your practice, Elbert is experienced in the synergistic approach of mediation and
psychotherapy.

Enneagram – A 2500 year old “system” of personality typology that describes nine distinct personality types, each one
possessing their own unique, dynamic, counter-intuitive transformative path of development leading to greater personal
self-actualization. Elbert has been presenting and utilizing the Enneagram system since 1998 and has found the
Enneagram system to be an invaluable aid to psychotherapy because it provides essential information about an
individual’s unique path of growth and development.

Brief therapy – While some psychological processes are deeply ingrained, changing slowly over time and with great
effort, some issues are much more amiable to the change process.  Elbert is experienced in the use and practice of
Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, all of which facilitate rapid
psychological change towards growth.  Elbert has focused on learning how to integrate diverse methodologies of
psychotherapy in order to provide the easiest and most cost effective path of growth towards your personal goals.
